Heart’s Surgery

One of our highly anointed, key young leaders, has had a bad heart for years, only we didn’t know it. He lived 450 kilometers from Phnom Penh and one day when he was working he passed out. Our staff pediatrician, Dr. Lina, brought him to a cardiologist as his heart was pounding at 180 beats per minute, and a large hole was discovered in his heart. The doctors stabilized him, we raised $10,000 USD for the operation, and he was ready for surgery on Friday June 24th. The night before the surgery one of the surgeons was injured in an auto accident and could not operate. They needed two surgeons and the only other doctor qualified was in France. He was scheduled to return the next Tuesday. Tuesday came and lightning hit the standby generator at the hospital and they wouldn’t operate without emergency electrical back-up. We waited and today, July 5th, he is out of surgery as I write, in intensive care under the care of two nurses with no visitors allowed. He woke up at 8:00pm and ate some porridge. The doctors feel he has the potential to be normal upon recovery. Pray for him.
