Lame Man Walking!

FCOP_Pastor_Somart_005

This is a story of the God who heals and how He completely changed every aspect of my life.  My name is Som Art.  When I was fourteen years old I was chopping firewood; the ax skimmed off a hard piece of wood and cut my leg.  We had no antibiotics and the nerve was cut.  My leg swelled up and the infection went up my back.  I was paralyzed from the waist down.  We were very poor and had no food.  My younger brother found an old board that I would lay on.  He would drag me from home to home where we would beg for food and go through garbage to find something to eat or to sell.

I thought my life was over.  I would see my friends running and playing, but now at 18 years old, I thought I would never walk again.  I had no hope and was completely ashamed of the life I was living.  Then one day my brother pulled me up to the home of a Christian pastor.  He prayed for me in the name of Jesus Christ and I felt power go through my body.  Suddenly, I felt my legs again and they could move.  I thought I was dreaming, but it was real.  For the first time in four years I stood up and began to walk.  This was no fantasy, Jesus Christ had just healed me.

I walked into the Foursquare Children of Promise Orphan Home and asked if I could stay there.  I was the oldest orphan in the home, but because of my past they took me in.  I began to play the drums in the church band and sing to the Lord.  I was so grateful for a God who loved me and healed me, I wanted to serve Him all my life.

The church asked me to lead the youth group.  I started with just a few youth but the group soon grew to about 60 members.  I was reaching out to other church orphan homes in the Foursquare system and met a girl in an orphan home on the other side of Phnom Penh.  We fell in love and were married when I was 20 years old.

The church saw that I had leadership gifts and asked me to move to Kraite to plant new church groups.  My wife and I ran the church orphan home there and began to start home churches.  The first year more than 100 church groups were formed.  I was promoted to the position of Supervisor of that Division of Foursquare Churches.  I went on in the next three years to establish more than 300 more church groups in that division, which grew it into one of 23 Districts of Churches in the nation of Cambodia.

At age 25, I was brought back to Phnom Penh where I was made advisor to the president of the Foursquare Church.  I have since gone on to become the General Supervisor over 6000 churches in Cambodian with nearly 1,000,000 adherents.  I am now married with three children and they love The Lord with all their heart.  They know that God is alive and still heals today!  I could never thank The Lord enough for all He has done in my life.
