Do you want to see what is really going on over here? Then you need to down load the PDF file for our “2013 Ministry Overview”. This is a big file, but it will give you the full scope of the ministry. Download Overview  We generally give these out to visitors, but it is hard to get a copy to all those who would like one. If you are in a slow computer server zone, you may want to skip this as it is 50 MB long.

Orphan Care

Philosophy: FCOP International does not believe in exporting orphan children to a large institutional facility. Children are accepted regardless of race, creed or economic background. Facilities are constructed in the area of need and limited to a maximum size of 40 children. This allows children to stay in their home area, near friends and distant relatives.

When a facility reaches the maximum enrollment another facility is constructed in a nearby community. Each church orphan home is under the oversight of the pastor who selects the local staff. Normally homes are staffed by widows and members of the local church, which support it as an extension of their ministry to the community.  Widows are given priority consideration as the primary care givers. The church orphan homes are staffed at a ratio of one staff per five orphans. No one punches a time clock.  The homes are run as a family with everyone taking part.

Typical Church Orphan Home

Typical Church Orphan Home: Each home is built around a local church that has a vision for helping orphans. The facility houses the congregation on Sundays, the same hall that is used for recreation and instruction for the children throughout most of the week. To see the over 100 church orphan homes we have in Cambodia, click here.

The second floor houses dormitories with separate quarters for infants, young children, girls and boys. Each dorm room is also occupied by a staff member designated the, “Home Parent”.

Kitchen and restroom facilities are usually constructed in a nearby building.

Home sponsorship: Donors from around the world help provide for the food and daily care of the orphans. Current sponsorship costs for a home is only $1,500US per month as the total home support is supplemented by FCOP Cambodia. This provides for care giving, food, clothing, routine medical treatment and education for the child.

The sponsors are encouraged to connect with the orphans that they support by bringing mission teams.  Donors can see current photos and videos of the children in their church home via a web site which is developed and maintained  by older orphans that are now working for FCOP Cambodia.

If you read to this point, I assume you are interested in what’s happening here. So, here’s the deal. Below is a link to a 30 page printed booklet we do once per year. It is called our “Overview”. If you click on this drop-box link you can receive it, but is is five megabytes long, so, if you’re on a phone line web link, or have a slow server, you may just want to forget it, and hope we send you a copy. It’s worth reading, as it includes financial data, and pictures worth thousands of words.  That’s too much information. Sorry! But be blessed anyway! We are planning on it!
