Rice crop: Less than hoped for

FCOP’s combine works to harvest the third chance for a healthy rice crop.

Rice is a sensitive crop. Stress at any time during its growing cycle can affect the yield. We lost the first crop to drought and the second planting suffered from drought stress during the first month of its growing cycle. FCOP pastors prayed against the curse on the 700 acres, and rain came. The crop, though decent, was less than could have been grown under controlled conditions. We are harvesting, and the rice quality is good, but the yield is not what we had hoped. There will be a decent crop but not enough to lift the load of the two previous failed crops. Pray FCOP finds the means to develop the property to make it free from drought and flood.
