Sustainability

This is what we want to reproduce consistently. Our Rice Crop in better days.

To get to a greater level of financial sustainability, FCOP must purchase more land and dig reservoirs. And, we could certainly use your help! We are greatly thankful for all that you did for us in 2014! Most of the farmers in our area harvested little or nothing, they are deeply in debt to the banks, and the banks show no mercy. Banks only loan about 1/3 of what the farm is worth, but the farmers can’t pay the mortgage.

The banks, wanting to cover their bad loans, take the land and sell it quick to someone with cash. That translates often to: “Sold to some rich general who buys it for a fraction of the true value”. I’d love to see these unfortunate farmers at least be able to receive a fair price, and start over.

It is a real opportunity for us to help the community, and at the same time put together the block of land we need, but we need to raise a tidy sum (as much as two million dollars?) just to buy land, and we need it in before the generals do their dirty work.

All said and done, 2014 was a great lesson in faith and perseverance. In early October, I honestly was close to despair. But God came through, using you to put us back on our feet. Thank you! We cleared off more than $300,000 US in debt, and though we have no money for the future, we know a God who does! We at least don’t have to dig out of a hole! “God bless you each and every one, and have a Happy, Healthy, Prosperous New Year!”
