Destroying the Devil’s Work

Why did Jesus come to the earth? Most Christians would immediately respond, “To save our souls”! But, I submit that it is a major part of a bigger package. Jesus Himself proclaimed in Luke 19:10 “for the Son of man has come to seek and save that which was lost.” And, John sums this up in 1 John 3:8b, “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” Obviously, more was lost in the Garden of Eden than our souls.

FCOP pastors and church members have cast out thousands of demons and they are never clean. They are usually violent, sometimes frothing, snarling, spitting and unwashed and totally unkept. Several times the demonic possessed we have dealt with were kept in chains. We have been able to cast some demons out by pointing and commanding them to depart but usually it is a long, often loud, and messy process. Demons, bite, scratch, hiss, slither like snakes, puke, lie, swear, curse and usually have to be restrained. It is best to have a team of about four to six dedicated workers; one praying in the Spirit, one reading out loud and praying from the Psalms 50-72, out loud, and one lead exorcist addressing the demons. And, sometimes it takes days, or even weeks of multiple sessions to get someone clean. And, freeing people from the control of the devil is a big part of God’s plan for the church. Jesus actively cast out demons, why don’t many churches?
