The greatest promise in history, “Though your sins be like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool” (Is 1:18). Amazingly, the two lines that precede this promise suggest it is a result of reasoning following a demand containing these two lines: “Defend the fatherless, plead for the widow.” I am not saying that we are saved by works but certainly God is concerned for these disadvantaged persons. If there is a formula to explain the success of FCOP, I suppose that is it. I went to visit my old friend Father John Visser, a Catholic Priest of the Salesian order and former director of Don Bosco, Cambodia. He and I both have great faith in the ‘Providence of God’ when it comes to taking care of orphaned and separated children. We both have absolute confidence that God will make a way for those who believe this. Father John is 89 years old this year and is still actively serving the Don Bosco School for the poor in Poipet, Cambodia. He’s been a true friend of FCOPI who has taken in many of our kids for technical education through the years. He’s built technical schools and I’ve built church/homes. Both of us are driven by the love of Christ and never quit. We are always looking for a new challenge and don’t enjoy office work and somehow have unshakable confidence that when it comes to orphaned kids and widows, God will always come through. Providence!
