Church Planting
Imagine having to cross a rocky, rapidly flowing river on foot just to hear the Word of God. New believers in the mountain region of Ratanakiri at the Vietnam/Laos border (what is known by locals as 'the tail of the dragon' and most foreigners as the 'topknot of the parrot') will travel long distances from various locations throughout Laos and Cambodia to have fellowship with other believers. FCOP is sharing the Gospel in some of the most remote areas of Cambodia and now has outreach to 8 tribal groups (each having their own dialect). This thriving group of 60 strong adult believers on the Lao border is mixing 4 of the dialects groups, in what are considered unreached people groups including Krung, Kavet, Plao, and Lao. They teach in Lao and have been meeting weekly to worship and study the Word of God. Many use the solar powered “Proclaimers” as a daily part of their ministry.
During the leadership training in Ratanakiri this past month, FCOP pastors were so on fire for God and have such love for the people in that extreme northern region that Pastor Say Saret was moved to donate her land to FCOP. Soon we will begin breaking ground on the construction of a new church building. Physical church buildings are important in Cambodia because they not only serve as a gathering place to worship Jesus free from environmental factors such as extreme heat or rain, but also as a testament to God’s presence within the community. In every province of Cambodia, churches are continuing to be established and communities are being transformed with the love of Christ. FCOP is actively bringing the Gospel, healing, and freedom in the name of Jesus.
