End of an Era

I used to lie awake at night worrying about how we could find work for all of the kids we had in care. We had to move them from dependency to responsible, productive adulthood. Thankfully, with the work ethic they learn at our homes, that has never been a problem. But, in the early days technical training was difficult to find. In 2002 I brought the first old Case tractor to Cambodia and let our boys who wanted to learn a trade in heavy equipment mechanics rebuild it under the skilled training of "Master Mechanic, Paul Mok". The result was so impressive farmers wanted to purchase it and we went on to rebuild and sell more that 100 tractors. It was so successful that may others followed our path, and now with inexpensive machinery from India, and a tight labor market. It is not a lucrative business. We shipped our last rebuilt tractor on January 30th. We may still do one for training now and then but the "Tractor Factory" is closed. The destination has arrived. Everyone who wants a job can get one.
