Father's Day

It made me cry. Sure, it was "Father's Day" and hundreds of my kids were saying "Thank You" but that just made me happy. What got to me was seeing one of our kids, who is the top student in her high school class, the class president, and also president of the student council, dancing on Sundayplaying the part of Eve singing to her husband, Adam, played by Mattai. Mattai is a 27 year old down syndrome young man who has been in our care for 18 years. They were doing a musical skit portraying the naming of the animals and she sang to him as an equal, which is when something broke inside me. The young woman and her twin sister were rejected by their father when their mother died and the new wife would not have them when he remarried. They've been with us for 10 years. I have no doubt they would have been trafficked without the protection of FCOP. And, Mattai would most likely be dead. Instead, they are now in a family of equals, being raised in the knowledge of Christ. It was a wonderful Father's Day gift.
