First International Team of 2021!
Sam Tolle, FCOP’s Teams Leader, welcomed the first international team of 2021! It was a joint effort between our Cambodian staff, traveling to one of our church refuge centers, and international sponsors who raised funds and virtually provided needed prayer support. Church of the Open Door, Clinton, Iowa, says, "Even though traveling to Cambodia is not an option, we still want to do something special to help care for some of the children in FCOP". Through this unique partnership, FCOP staff kicked off a major construction project at Psar Chas Church Refuge Center in coordination with the sponsor’s church services. Together, they put a new roof on the church, demolished the 20-year-old wood and tin cafeteria, and built a completely new cafeteria that will stand the test of time. Daily video updates that included interviews, project updates, and clips of some of the daily-life happenings in Cambodia (meal prep, hobbies, etc) were sent to the sponsoring church. Although the children missed their foreign friends, giving high fives, working and playing together, there was still a sense of gratefulness that people on the “other side of the world” would care for them. Pastor Metrey, at Psar Chas church said, “We can experience God’s love in many ways. One of the most practical is through loving each other". This team, and the sponsors of it, have shown us all a great model of God’s love in action which we hope can be replicated. Thank you Church of the Open Door for your continued love and support for FCOP!
