Grandmother's Wisdom
Virtually all of us think less of ourselves than God thinks of us. Your viewpoint is one of the most important things in life; the old, "Glass half full, or half empty", conclusion we may draw about anything. Reflecting on 2016 one could say, "The good thing about the past, is that it never changes" (Which really is quite fatalistic, even though it may sound positive.) or, as my grandmother, born in 1867, used to say, "The only thing good about the 'Good old days' is that they are gone!" Now, I can understand her point of view. (It sounds negative but is very positive.) For the first 1/2 of her life there was very limited understanding of bacterial infection, let alone any antibiotics to treat ailments, that for her were deadly; and now we just pop a pill. She came to the US as an "Indentured Servant", and passed away a wealthy woman. She always looked toward a positive future. Well, we don't have a pill that will cure 2016, the year is gone, but then, we still have a future and we did make a lot of progress. However, I am very glad that we serve a "Full Glass" God.
