How You Can Help!
FCOP Cambodia has welcomed teams from all over the world for over two decades. These teams have come to do service projects that speak volumes to the children about their intrinsic value in contrast with the Buddhist understanding of karma. When everything came to a halt and travel was no longer an option due to COVID-19, many people have asked when we will be able to allow teams to start up again. Although we don't know when people will actually be able to "set foot" in Cambodia, we realized that the physical presence of the teams wasn't the only benefit to having one. With 106 locations that house orphaned and abandoned children all over the country, the maintenance on these facilities and demands to provide safe, well run homes has not paused for COVID. We believe teams can still help with this.
With our first virtual team underway, we realize there are people who are still willing and wanting to make a difference in the life of a child in Cambodia during this year of lockdown. We've relayed video footage of a tour of Psar Chas Church Refuge Center needs, held live interviews and will be starting the project shortly. Daily updates and progress will be shared as the "virtual team" gets to participate from their own home in sponsoring our Cambodian staff to go and have the means to provide for children in need around the country. Technology has blessed us with the means to still be present and involved in the lives of those across the globe. It will never be a full replacement for being present with the kids, but this "something" is better than nothing at all. It will go a long way to help our children to be raised in a safe, loving environment, and you will cause a child who feels totally insignificant to realize that someone from halfway around the world cares about them!
