Hypocrisy
I'd rather be friends. Why can't UNICEF come alongside those that are actually doing something and say, "What can we do to help you?"Are you thinking of "Trick or Treating" for UNICEF? Don't! According to Jesus, the Pharisees "…Bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. But all their works they do to be seen by men." Now, if I can be so bold as to apply that to UNICEF, all I can say is that, "Truer words have never been spoken."They seem to think they own the Ministry of Social Affairs in Cambodia. Obviously, they do call the shots for some officials. When the largest foreign donor to your budget speaks, you listen! Fortunately, many of the senior leaders resent the imposition of their Western humanistic values on Cambodian organizations. When Prime Minister Hun Sen put out the appeal in 1999, "Someone do something to help us take care of these homeless kids!" FCOP came with the fastest and largest answer, and never requested any government money. (click to see)Are we perfect? No, far from it! We don't mind oversight, and we don't neglect any wrong once we are made aware of it. Sometimes we may have to wait for money to fix a problem. But some things are beyond ridiculous. One example: Beds are mandated for all orphan homes, but in the tribal regions the kids pull off the blankets and sleep on the floor between the beds.UNICEF? They pick, squeeze, demand, show up for random inspections, and point fingers at anything that does not please them, yet have never contributed anything to help us feed, clothe, house, or medically treat an orphan. Yet how do they operate? It took them almost a year to finally close this disgrace.I agree with Jesus. To the modern day Pharisees, in the form of UNICEF, I would say the same:“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves." I know, you think I should be nice to my enemies, well I do pray for them, but for now, I'll just follow Jesus' lead and let them know what I think, as per Matthew Chapter 23.
