Looking for Courage
In December FCOP sent out three inspection teams to do our first 'in depth' church home evaluations in almost two years. Some teams were gone for two weeks and of course uncovered some problems. As a result, FCOP has changed pastors in six locations, established a new administrative district and appointed two new District Supervisors. In addition, we unveiled a plan to release General Supervisor Pastor Som Art to spend more time traveling to encourage and support pastors through relieving him of some of the daily responsibilities at the Chom Chao Church. On December 21st, we brought the new supervisors into Phnom Penh for a time of formal commissioning and anointing. They now have to select, train, and support the new pastors. They understand that resurrecting a 'dead church' is harder than starting a new one. First you have to deal with the corpse, then fight off the ghosts and reconnect the discouraged members, as well as reach the lost. Of course, calling and anointing are major selection factors, but Pa Thom emphasized the need to look for courage, as every one of these new assignments would face opposition. Their new marching orders are straight out of Titus 1:5-9 with the only change being the geographic location of Crete (Titus 1:5) to the name of their district. Each of these leaders was anointed and received prayer and prophecy. It was a good day!
