New Machine for Big Work
We finally purchased our excavator, which is a key component of our program for self sufficiency through rice production. We have several miles of large canals, reservoirs and dikes to construct, which means a high capacity, reliable, excavator is essential. There are no excavators manufactured in Cambodia so we have to ship one in and that is a huge price from the US. After months of searching and being disappointed, I located what appears to be a low hour, serviceable, machine and the cost of shipping is 10% of that from the USA. We should have it here in a month. I am having the repair work done in China so when it hits the ground it will be ready to dig, as we have a lot of digging to do! We have been challenged with a declining dollar against the Thai Bhat and a land price inflation boosted by Chinese immigration. We are seeking a loan to finish things up here, but churches and NGO's can't borrow money. Want to help a great cause and make some interest on your investment? Please, email me! We need to borrow $400,000 for three to five years.
The process of expanding from 400 acres of rice to over 1000 acres since March 1st has been a load for our staff. I didn't even give them time off for Cambodian New Year in April and most people take off a week. We have purchased boatloads of equipment and now get to put it to work. This year we are working with under developed land and we are at the mercy of the elements. So far, our rains have been good to us. We very seriously ask you to pray for our crop because we all know who the 'prince and power of the air’ is and he hates FCOP. Floods and droughts are both powerful enemies. God loves us and so do you, so, if we pull together we will pull this off; with His help!
