The Book
"How do we get there from here?" This question is one that constantly rolls in my mind. I see destinations in my mind, from seeing Cambodia become a Christian nation, to actually producing three crops per year on land that normally raises one.
I have been asked by at least one hundred people, to write a book. I've never been able to make the journey to "There". I have more than 220, three to four page, single spaced, "Updates', going back every month for 19 years. I've had people move to Cambodia with the intention of writing a book, others have offered, nothing has "clicked" for me. God crossed my path with Larry Chambers. He's a believer but definitely not religious. Google ‘Larry Chambers’ and you’ll read words like ‘prolific author,’ ‘expert,’ ‘acclaimed writer,’ Once one of Wall Street’s highest paid ghostwriters and then, of course, references to his many books on Amazon.com, etc. A first place winner in the 2011 National VA Art Competition; and the recipient of the Ojai WordFest Award, recognized for outstanding literary talent. Chambers was also one of 13 exhibiting artists acknowledged by the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War Commission.
Everything from our first day in Cambodia is documented, but how to put it together in a way that is interesting, and really serves the greater purpose of leading people who don't believe in the supernatural to a point of faith, is something I have not been able to do. I don't want just another religious book, that few people will read. If it get's done, it has to reach a destination, and it has to be so interesting people won't put it down. How? I've always wanted the story told by a non-religious person, who slips into the pond of faith along with the readers.
Larry Chambers spent fifteen months in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne as a LRP/Ranger. Among other awards and decorations, Chambers earned two Bronze Stars for valor, a Purple Heart, two Air Medals for valor, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.
Larry is writing 'our book'. He's published with Penguin Random House and he develops the destination before he begins writing. Look for a book someday. Don't expect it to be religious! But when you have read it, you will believe in God.
