Wise as Serpents!

We are often criticized for our dealings with unsavory elements of our society, former church leaders who have betrayed us, constant oppression of organizations that are against the growth of the church, and the governmental demands. "Fees" are paid and nothing moves without a little 'grease' on the wheels. So, are we promoting evil?  Jesus told a story about a crooked accountant that worked for a businessman and was caught and fired. Before the crook left his position he went around and made deals with all the businessman's creditors to cut their bills to his old boss. When the boss found out, I'm pretty sure he was ticked, but there was nothing he could do about it so, he basically said, "This guy is pretty smart!" Now, listen to what Jesus says the point of this story is: "For the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light." It's what I call the, “Wise as serpents factor.” In dealing with corrupt individuals, agencies and governments, you can’t deal with crooks according to American Christian ethics and expect to accomplish much. A ‘gift’ or ‘incentive’ is going to be needed in many instances. If your personal convictions prevent you from getting the job done, then you might as well stay home. Does that mean you become dishonest? No! You become Biblical. Go ahead, get your rocks, you can stone me next time we meet.
