Work!

Be careful what you pray for! Last month I told you that one of my highest values is diligence. Well, the devil made sure, we got tested in August! Harvesting rice in a time of flood is always a challenge. We are grateful that we got our rice harvested! But, that was the easy part. Getting the crop out of the paddy area to dry storage was a battle we were not prepared to fight. Rice had to be loaded into 110 pound sacks, and literally carried through knee deep mud to be loaded onto rafts which we had to build. The guys then pulled three tons at a time on these floating rafts to another area where the heavy bags had to be loaded onto carts and pulled by a small tractor to a point where they could finally be hauled by our larger wagons to permanent storage and drying. Whew! All that to feed the hungry!
