Life Changing Stories

Released from Demonic Possession

We are seeing signs, wonders, and miracles taking place throughout Cambodia. Our pastors encountered an entire family that had been under a demonic possession resulting in no one in the family living past the age of 30. The family was led by a demoniac who would hear voices telling him to drink his own urine. The demons taunted him day and night without relenting. Mak Sou picked this up in the Spirit, prayed with the man, baptized him in water, and cast the demon out. After prayer and baptism, the man said the voices were gone. The countenance on the …

From Victims to Heroes

Eight year-old Sane came to live at Chom Chao Church Refuge Center a little over a year ago. He started out as a shy young boy with many fears and a great sense of insecurity. Through being given structure, parental figures that love and support him, he’s experienced the Father’s love and it has changed his life. It’s been said, “Children are great imitators… so give them something great to imitate”~ anonymous. We take this motto to heart as we actively live out the Great Commission to make disciples as well as to care for orphans and widows. Sane’s survival …

Roots

At least two serious attempts have been made to write a book about the FCOP Ministry in Cambodia. The first was in 2008 and for some reason stopped at about 120 pages. The author came to me one day and simply said, “You need to write this book”. Mary Ann Lind is her name and she did a good job of capturing the first three years. I’ve never shared any of this before, except for the end story, and edited it down to the bare essence of about two pages to answer a central question. “Why have you been so …

The Real Meaning of Life

Kampong Leaeng district is located in Kampong Chhnang Province just north of Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh. Although one may view this area as land locked on a map, there’s a major river that runs along the west side and marshlands with no roads on the east side. Locals refer to it as an island due to access being limited to boat over the Tonle Sap River from the west. This so called “island” is where I was born on May 13, 1985.  My name is Sopharemetrey Khem but most people call me “Metrey” (which sounds like “Met-try”). I am a …

Promise Kept!

I made this girl, Dany, a promise. “I will never leave Cambodia until your leg is healed!” Dany was a crippled girl with two healthy siblings from a poor family in rural Steung Treng Province. Her father died when she was young and her mother re-married twice. As an infant she learned to walk late and was slower and weaker than other kids her age. Though she and her family did not know it, she had tuberculosis of the bones. Even though she had trouble walking normally, she desperately wanted to be like other children.  With “mind over matter” she …

Shanon’s Miracle

Shanon Hladek is the newest addition to the FCOPI team and when she first came to Cambodia, she was using a cane to help with balance in order to walk after having brain surgery a few years ago to control seizures that were destroying her life. The doctors literally removed part of her right temporal lobe. Now because of the faith and prayers of our team, and especially the kids, she is able to walk and unload boxes of MannaPack rice nutrition meals just like everyone else. She seems totally normal in every way and has become a valued member …

Mak Sou got her “Due”

Mak Sou got her, “Due”! For years Mak Sou has slugged it out with the devil in Cambodia, and had little recognition of her tireless work. At the 2018 Foursquare Convention (Connection) in Seattle, Washington, USA, that changed, as she and, yours truly, Ted, were honored in front of 4000 pastors and church leaders from around the world; by presenting us with the, “Transformed” Award, for the transformational work in seeing Cambodia come to Christ. The theme of the connection was, “Transformed by Jesus”. A film crew was sent from Los Angeles in March to shoot the video which highlights …

Stand on God’s Shoulders

“If you think you are too small to make big things happen, then you’ve never been in bed with a mosquito” There is a positive side to this! This woman was so small, 4′-6″ (137cm), she had to stand on God’s shoulders! Saved by one of our evangelists preaching to her while she washed clothes on the beach of the Tonle Sap River. She had no education, could neither read nor write, was dirt poor, but, she learned to hear God, and that is a big deal! She grew in the Lord over several years, as she learned from the …

Roza’s Story

My parents got divorced when I was 3 years old at a refugee camp in Thailand.  I was abandoned so, my grand mother brought me to stay with her. One day when I was 3 years old my grand mother discovered I had a bad fever so my grand mother took me to hospital. I received a shot and a few days later my left leg lost its feeling and began getting smaller. I could not walk but my grandmother kept pushing me to walk everyday and even though the leg did not develop as well as my other, …

Srey Yein

“We ain’t want we wanna be! We ain’t what we gonna be! But,thank God, we ain’t what we was”! I heard that back in the mid 1960’s pertaining to the dismantling of racial segregation in the US but it is so true about FCOP in Cambodia. We had no money, and the kids in Siem Reap were sleeping on dirt floored thatch shack. Finally, we found a piece of land we could afford and a donor gave us money for a building. The new church home was constructed, only to find out after the church was built, that we’d constructed it …

Little Elephant

“Thank God He Ain’t What He Was!” I do know this is the way I feel regarding most of the lives FCOP has impacted in Cambodia. We have two orphan kids with the nickname “Elephant”, and the name came with a condition they were born with called ‘meningoencephalocele’ which is a hemorrhage of brain tissue through a hole in their cranium near their eye, and it forms a trunk looking appendage, thus the name, “Elephant”. Both of our boys received very delicate operations. The first was the most serious and the procedure was performed in Cambodia which saved his life …

From Nothing to Everything

Most people call me Krew Savang. I received Jesus in the year 2000 through FCOP and I am blessed to serve as an FCOP pastor in Siem Reap Province. As our God is more powerful than any other god, I have seen many miracles and have many testimonies of God working in people’s lives. I have learned how to move in the power of the Holy Spirit to break up demonic strongholds. Recently, I was able to meet and pray for a 61 year old woman named Cheoun who has 5 children, aged from 24 to 31 years old. She …
