Pum Pram Moiy

The Pum Pram Moiy home is located in Cambodia’s far northeastern corner in the Ratanakiri Province. Ratanakiri is bordered by Laos to the north and Vietnam to the east.There are no highways leading to the village of Pum Pram Moiy, only simple pot-holed dirt roads. This far northeastern province of Ratanakiri is one of the most beautiful, yet undeveloped areas in Cambodia. During the rainy season, villages soon become inaccessible as roads are washed out. Living here in this remote area are 12 tribal groups, each having their own distinct language.

Most of the hill tribes in Ratanakiri are farmers. The farmers grow rice, vegetables, and raise water buffalo and cows. They also hunt using crossbows with poison-tipped bamboo arrows. Many still wear traditional costumes, which include sarongs, tattooed faces and ivory tusk earrings in their elongated earlobes.

Many villagers are deprived of basic education and have a high mortality rate due to lack of medical care. Difficulties with diseases such as malaria, typhoid, and cholera are just some of the illnesses which plague this geographic location.

In 2002, Foursquare Children of Promise begin evangelizing and building relationships with the different tribal groups of Ratanakiri. Since then, the gospel has been spreading like wild fire! Especially when the tribal members see the love the pastors have for the orphans, the widows and the poor.

Every morning the children of the Pum Pram Moiy Home begin their day with a morning devotional. After Bible study, worship, and prayer, they eat breakfast. Some go to school in the morning, and others attend school after lunch. When the children are not in school, they might help with house chores, take a nap, or play games. The children enjoy playing Volleyball, Cambodian games, and learning traditional dances.
