Happy Virtual Father's Day

Happy Virtual Father's Day! From almost the very beginning of FCOP's existence 21 years ago, the staff and children in our care have referred to me as "Pa Tōm" (which means big dad). Many of the children in our care have never had a father figure or even known who their biological father is or was. After coming into FCOP's care they learn that God is their Heavenly Father and He hasn't forgotten about them.  It doesn't stop there. They are also introduced to their Pastor or the senior male caregiver, in the cases of women pastors, who watches over their daily provision as a home parent Dad. The kids always end up referring to him as "Dad" and me as "Big Dad". This is a big part of helping restore their sense of dignity, self-worth and identity. The kids at our Phnom Penh church put on a special song and thank you for me "Pa Thom" and their home-parent Dad, Pastor Som Art. It had to be done virtually, as we're still not able to meet as a church here in Cambodia due to Covid-19 regulations. They did a great job and cooked up a feast of frogs, which they had grown, after the virtual service was done. Only my heart was there, but the love was felt miles away.
