Cambodian Drought

Most of Cambodia is dry. I want to thank all who prayed for FCOP and shared our prayer request for rain on our rice in Balang, Cambodia. FCOP depends on this rice for the care of 3,000 orphans, widows, separated children and staff in our 106 Church Refuge Centers. FCOP replanted about 650 acres of the rice as it had passed the crucial stage for setting heads. It is heart breaking to plow a crop under, especially one that had so much potential 6 weeks ago. We were one good rain short. Learning to be persistent through God’s mercies, we never give up! FCOP left 250 acres of jasmine rice that needed water, which turned out to be a mistake as we didn't get the rain to fill it. As a result, we harvested about half ton per hectare (lousy). FCOP has about 100 acres of traditional rice which we will wait on, but we need rain on all of this rice. At present, the new rice looks pretty good. As we are day to day, your prayers are making the difference! We need some heavy rain, without massive flooding from sudden Chinese dam releases from the North. Finally, if you can send some help to www.fcopi.org/give, we could sure use it!
