Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! We’ve heard that often and celebrated the New Year in all manner of means. At precisely 12:00AM, all around the world, starting in Western Samoa and ending in American Samoa, millions of people joined in the singing of "Auld Lang Syne.” For most of my life I though it meant "Thinking of the 'Good old days' or 'Happy Memories.’ But it actually means putting all the angst, anger, disappointment, and betrayal behind you and starting anew. That's a pretty good way to start a year! It sounds a lot like 2 Corinthians 5:17. In Cambodia, it’s been 20 years since the Khmer Rouge laid down all arms, and peace came over the land. The Prime Minister, Hun Sen, declared a three day national holiday, ending at Midnight, Dec 31st to celebrate, complete with 3-D fireworks! Our own Dr. Lina and his family were on hand to welcome in the year! With a future view, Deputy Prime Minister, Sar Keng, met with all religious groups to urge working in unity against the threat of drug addiction in Cambodia.
