Learn to forgive

Some things are hard to get over! I am a lousy "Hater". There have been people that I've hated in my life, but it never lasts. My longest record dates from my days in Laos. I remember one former Air Force Colonel that I used to have visions of myself giving him the 'boot' as he stood at the door of a helicopter and gleefully watching him spiral 5000 feet to his death. Fortunately, for me and for him, I never lived out that evil plot, but it took me years to get over his personal vendetta against me. It seemed to me like his sole purpose in life was to destroy me. Now, almost 50 years later, I look back at what he did and I am grateful for what I learned from him; how to let threats and anger directed at me roll off my back. I am very thankful for that lesson and I hope he made it to heaven so that one day I can shake his hand and thank him. About 18 years ago, I decided to try to locate him and sincerely apologize for my evil thoughts, ask him to forgive me, and sincerely thank him for what I learned form him; only to find out that he died in a helicopter crash in Egypt about 20 years previous to my attempted contact. I actually felt bad about his demise and can only wonder if someone else shared my evil fantasy?? Well, I still hope he made it to heaven!
