National Training Center Repairs

A well-watered garden is crucial to ensure a good vegetable yield. Each day, our kids would drag a hose back and forth across the grounds to ensure that all of our various gardens were receiving adequate water. To help consolidate this process, our staff installed an underground water line leading from our fish pond to the other side of the grounds where our gardens are located. Using the water from our fish pond provides natural fertilizer and additional nutrients.

Acid rain is an enemy of anything made of metal and in Cambodia, we get plenty of it. A few months back, the windmill for FCOP’s fish pond at the National Training Center (that was originally built in 2001) became too rusted and began to fall apart. Our talented staff ordered new steel and rebuilt the stand. The windmill is an essential element for proper aeration thereby maintaining proper oxygen levels and ensuring cleaner water. The quality of work will ensure this windmill will stand strong for many years to come.

We also wanted to protect our NGO vehicles that are used for picking up church members to attend Sunday church services from nearby communities, transporting the kids in FCOP’s care, and even used with visiting mission teams. To accomplish this, we needed to create a structure that would allow the vehicles protection from the elements. We decided to convert an old storage room into a parking garage. Our young men learned some important life skills including demolition, construction, and how to work with cement. We’re proud of their hard work to help the family with these important projects.
