Return of Khmer New Year Celebrations
After being cancelled for the past two years due to COVID-19, Cambodians were allowed to celebrate Khmer New Year which is the largest holiday in the country. This three day holiday marks the conclusion of the dry, harvest season and welcomes the beginning of the rainy, planting season. This holiday has great significance culturally in that it is a time where individuals travel to their home provinces to spend quality time with their family and friends while honoring their ancestors and family heritage. For the children in our care, FCOP is their family! At our National Training Center that houses two of our largest church refuge centers, the kids enjoyed the holiday with an array of special food, traditional games, and a whole lot of dancing. We welcome this new year and all that God has in store for us in this next season.
