Transition

Friends all over the world want to know, "What are your plans? When do you plan to retire?" Our answer (Mak and Pa), "As soon as possible!" Neither Sou nor I realized it when we came to Cambodia almost 22 years ago, but the Church is built upon, "the foundation of the apostles and prophets…" (Ephesians 2:20). In 1998, before I was selected and sent as a missionary, I was interviewed by the FMI Director and asked, "How many churches do you think you can plant in three years?" I remember thinking that I really needed to stretch my faith and I hesitantly uttered, "Twenty-five." Three years later, we had over 300 churches. Apostles and Prophets need each other but they don't always agree. The Apostle is the "Point Man" who sees the mission and is focused on the goal but may not see the “land mines.” The Prophet sees those mines, pitfalls, callings, the hand of the enemy, specific opportunities, etc, but they can be distracted. So, Mak and I have the perfect marriage. It makes for some real fireworks but life is never boring and, as we like to say, "We saved two other people from living miserable lives.” The results have been worth it!
