Thankful for Our Food
Unlike most of the developed world, Cambodian's don't take food for granted. They really do give thanks for it with very earnest and heartfelt prayer because many of them have known hunger. In addition, they are all involved in putting the next meal on the table. Though the thought of it scares most of us, it really is a pretty good way to grow up. Raising vegetables, fish, and caring for livestock are part of the daily routine. Mushrooms, (though not all that nutritious) are a valuable source of income to purchase need supplies like salt, sugar, cooking oil, and soy sauce. The MannaPack (nutrition rice meals) which they help un-load and re-load for distribution to refuge homes in the various provinces are a staple of life. This month we also received a shipment of Life Line rice and veggies meal packets which came just in time!
