“We Have only Begun to Fight”

These famous words came from Captain John Paul Jones as he was out gunned and surrounded in the American War of Independence. Asia is facing serious food shortages. If we had abundant rice available at the markets, at reasonable prices, I don't believe we would have replanted this last crop at our rice farm. But, our cupboard is bare!  If it weren't for our faithful benefactors, Feed My Starving Children, Children's Hunger Fund, Gleanings for the Hungry, Reach Now International, The Butte County Rice Growers and all the volunteers that make all these moving parts flow, we'd be starving right now. Every year the treachery of the increasing wall of dams, which cut off water during times of drought, and release giant flushes of floods during our wettest times, becomes more frightening. We started October with drought and in one week went to meter high floods covering our rice. We called on angelic help and prayed the water down. The rice caught a breath of air for a few days, only to see the dams flushed again and we were under water for more than a week. It looked dead to me. We prayed and God gave us a resurrection! As I write this update, flood waters are moving across the border a third time. I ask you to pray with us that we get a good crop! Please pray we get the money to build a proper reservoir and dikes. Pray we break this Chinese stranglehold of water control on Cambodia that has destroyed the lives of farmers and fishermen.
