Tek Pou

Thit Pou is located in the Battambang Province at the heart of the major rice producing area of the Cambodia.Battambang rice is famous for it’s wonderful quality and is in high demand throughout the country. The majority of Cambodians that attend the Thit Pou church and orphan home are rice farmers. Surrounding the orphan home are fields and fields of rice.

Thiet Pou is in a region that was heavily mined by both Khmer Rouge and Cambodian forces during the 27 years preceding peace in 1998. Fortunately, progress is being made in clearing the area. The landmines have left many without limbs, and many more without parents, therefore the high orphan population. Other contributors to the high orphan population are AIDS, disease, and violence.

Every morning, the children at the Thiet Pou Home begin their day with a morning devotional. After the time of Bible study, worship, and prayer, they eat breakfast. Some go to school in the morning, and others attend school after lunch. When the children are not in school, they might help with house chores, take a nap, or play. The children enjoy playing soccer, Cambodian games, and learning traditional dances.
