Doing What Jesus Did

"….And the violent take it by force!" The words of Jesus transcribed by Matthew have led many to believe that we need to use any means possible to expand God's Kingdom on earth. But, even though he did kick over some money changers tables, Jesus did not model a religion of violence. So, what was He talking about? Basically, the devil went 'nuts' when Jesus was announced by John the Baptist, and confirmed He was the Christ when he observed the Holy Spirit come upon Him and remain. Jesus was repeatedly persecuted and John arrested and beheaded. Even His hometown friends tried to throw Him off a cliff. The devil thought he'd won when he convinced Judas to betray Jesus and have Him crucified. The result was victory and the rest is where we are.

What is the secret to our success? Not violence but doing exactly what Jesus did. When John the Baptist sent his disciples to question Jesus (after all, John was looking for a political savior, and here he was locked up in the clink) they were told, "Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.” Jesus told us that we would do what He did (John 14:12).

As a result of that, we do what He did to start churches. Our pastor in Na Leung gave this testimony of a new church being started in February as a perfect example of this: (sic) "There is a women who has been blind  about 35 years. Her name is Chab Sarin she is living Prek Touch a way from our church about 5km. Before she came to believed Jesus she never hope she able to see this world again. About one month ago, when Pastor Ted and his team went to visited small churches group in the village she also go there and ask to pray for her eye, even she haven't believed in God yet. Then she get healed she can see again. After she get healed she always go to new church group every Sunday she said that Jesus is a real God He is really amazing. God bless you all!"
