Firewood

Believe it or not, all the meals cooked at our Training Center are cooked with wood. I know it’s not as clean as charcoal or gas, but it is the cheapest fuel. (Can’t beat free!) The kids at Chom Chao Refuge Center are at work chopping firewood. Today they are clearing away three dead trees at the Bulgarian Embassy. The kids are always happy to help.  At all of our Church Refuge Centers the kids perform daily chores around the home. This can be helping to harvest vegetables for meals, caring for livestock, as well as helping to prepare food. FCOP believes that working together as a family builds character and responsibility.  Every one of our kids learns to work, especially in doing the hard things that they don’t like, which creates good citizens that contributes to the good of the family and their country.  FCOP staff also make sure they have plenty of fun and celebrate with a traditional Khmer treat!
