The Triumphant Trip

Sou and I spent the last half of May and the first half of June in the US and Shanon was there for all of June, but it was a trip of great victory for us! Sou and I would not have been able to go, but for the generosity of a great pastor and church who purchased our tickets. We left Cambodia in a tough position. We have no food products being imported to feed our 2,500 orphans and widows and our rice was planted but needed fertilizer which was five times more expensive than last year. We must have this crop but left Cambodia with no money to feed it!

I needed $132,050 just for fertilizer and pesticides. Diesel, at $6.00/gallon, is making irrigation pumping extremely expensive. We were in trouble because we had all our normal expenses on top of that. During the four weekends we were in the US, Sou and I split up and spoke at 8 different congregations many with multiple services and Shanon spoke at 4. We held several mid-week services and met with multiple donors, we hosted the FCOP International Annual Board Meeting from President Sonny Weimer’s airplane hanger, and “Zoomed” in 67 Cambodian Church locations. The appeal was made to the young generation to forsake the world to serve the Lord. I’m happy to report that many young boys and girls responded with hands in the air. We spent the end of May and beginning of June attending Foursquare’s annual Connection where Shanon was ordained on the last day. All in all, over $200,000 was raised for the Cambodian work. It’s all gone, but our rice is still alive! Sou and I were able to see several of our children and grandchildren. It was a good trip!
