“A Monk?”

Ted and Sou look over a draft of FCOP’s new curriculum

I feel like one of those 10th century monastic scribes. Rising at 4:30-5:00 am, going to bed at 10:30pm and living off of Campbell’s Soup. For two weeks I focused on a project that I have been struggling with for 18 years, basically because there is no precedent for it. It isn’t that it was extremely difficult, just different! I don’t think it has happened for 1900 years. It may get me excommunicated or stoned, but FCOP now has an official Catechism. What? Thats correct, and I’m not a Catholic. I had to look the word up! Basically, it means: “A short book giving a brief summary the basic principles of a religion”. My problem was, no one has seen anything like this. My short book is 150 pages long!

Something unique in recent history has happened in the nation of Cambodia. I know of no other country where an actual “Book of Acts” phenomenon has occurred. It was not an accident; it was a set-up by God. Cambodia was virtually devoid of a Christian presence after the Pol Pot genocide of the 1970’s, and subsequent communist rule of the 1980’s. Literature had been destroyed, and the educated and clerical population largely exterminated. Cambodia was in a spiritual vacuum.  What has happened is beyond most theological belief systems. Illiterate and poorly educated pastors, led by the Holy Spirit, have raised the dead, healed the sick, and worked many miracles.

The reason for my sudden focus? My wife left me! Relax, it was only for two weeks to see her sister, who is 21 years older than her, and was actually more like her mother. She also attend her niece’s wedding in the USA. The good news is that Sou’s sister, 90 years old, received Christ. Anyway, I decided it was time to focus!
