Love, Life and Death in Cambodia!

At 11:30pm on Sat, August, 3rd, our phone started ringing. It was district supervisor Savang from Siem Reap province calling to ask for urgent prayer for her sister Pastor Savee from Phadau Penh in Kampong Speu province. Pastor Savee is seriously overweight and had been taken by ambulance to the Russian Friendship Hospital in Phnom Penh with a severe case of COVID-19 delta variant. The doctors examined her and told her family there was nothing they could do. Her lungs were completely shot and she should go home to die. The hospital agreed to let her sleep on a cot …

Preach the Word! In Season and Out of Season

Every child in Sunday School grows up hearing the story from Acts 16 about Paul and Silas praising God  while in a prison cell. Well, some of our Cambodian pastors had a similar experience. Pastor Savang and other leaders from Siem Reap province were rounded up and placed in a COVID quarantine center filled with several hundred other people suspected of having the virus due to an elder in their church testing positive. Rather than spending her days complaining about the conditions in which she found herself, Savang began to pray. The Holy Spirit led her to pray for those …

Beautiful Feet

What would go through to share the Gospel with those in need? Cambodia is currently experiencing its rainy season which results in increased water levels that wash out dirt roads and make travel to much of the country virtually impossible. This month is worse as SE Asia is experiencing high winds, heavy rain, and flash flooding as a result of the tropical storm Noul. FCOP pastors are driving motorcycles over difficult and flooded terrain, loading their motorcycles on makeshift boats to float over flooded rivers and streams, and sometimes even wading through knee deep water to share God’s love and …

Roots

At least two serious attempts have been made to write a book about the FCOP Ministry in Cambodia. The first was in 2008 and for some reason stopped at about 120 pages. The author came to me one day and simply said, “You need to write this book”. Mary Ann Lind is her name and she did a good job of capturing the first three years. I’ve never shared any of this before, except for the end story, and edited it down to the bare essence of about two pages to answer a central question. “Why have you been so …

22 Years of Progress

FCOP is multiplying by loving, caring and mentoring the next generation of leaders. It’s amazing to see kids that FCOP was raising as toddlers 22 years ago, now leading the charge at doing the same for the next generation. Thany (pictured above on the left), pastor and FCOP board member, is a prime example of how the church has continued to multiply.  Click Here to watch Thany’s story. Together with the passion of our young leadership like Thany and FCOP’s strategy to bring holistic health to Cambodia through addressing spiritual, economic, and social needs, we believe lasting change can happen. Our …

Dancing for King Jesus

Traditionally, Cambodian dances were performed to honor god and the king. The young people of FCOP are using this traditional art form to worship King Jesus who is both God and King. It’s taking something that is culturally relevant in their society and using it as a means of evangelism and worship. We have several different dance teams made up of various age groups. They perform modern, traditional, and even tribal dances that come from the hills of Ratanakiri. The most recent dance performed was the Lord’s Prayer. It’s a beautiful dance unfolding the meaning of this important passage of …

Sucker Punched!

Easter is about the greatest “sucker punch” in history! Just when it looked the darkest, God knocked the devil out with one great blow and set His church up to receive the power to carry on the fight. No matter how dark it appears, we’ve already won. Remember, it is always darkest just before dawn. God is ready for a sequel. Easter and Christmas are FCOP’s most fruitful times for evangelism often with thousands of people coming to hear the good news of Jesus through hundreds of presentations around Cambodia. These usually consist of everything from elaborate dramatic productions of the Easter events …

A Voice of Reason in a World Gone Crazy!

Worldwide, It’s hard to understand how these types of policies make sense? Clearly, it is fear driven, but not a rational fear, and can only be understood if it is pushed by forces behind the realm of the obvious. The science is not even logical. Why vaccinate people for a disease with a 99+% cure rate? Why ignore the hundreds of studies of cures like Regeneron, HCQ + Zinc and Ivermectin to promote questionable vaccines? At least the Chinese vaccine, which is used in Cambodia, is a true vaccine, developed from an attenuated or killed virus. An obvious question arises from that fact. How did China develop such a …

Greatest Lessons for the Next Generation

Devotion to God, serving others, work, study, developing healthy habits, impacting one’s community, and learning to socially integrate with local culture are important life lessons. With the kids being out of school, and not being able to travel away from our refuge centers we’ve been blessed to be able to maintain some sort of normalcy throughout this past year as we’ve dealt with multiple lockdowns. Thankfully our kids are able to play together and are not suffering the isolation that many other children throughout the world are facing. We’ve kept them busy doing various activities such as planting gardens, cleaning and organizing our vast inventory of dance costumes used …

Warfare Tactics 8.0

We no longer need guns and bombs to achieve political objectives. We have human missiles that carry a virus and that virus has infected the entire world. It is very interesting that the Chinese Vaccine for CV-19 is a traditional attenuated virus, whereas the the two most popular and widely used vaccines in the USA are modified RNA vaccines. These have the potential to alter the genetics of those who take them, making US citizens less resistant to future attacks. The enemy is actually, “Evil”. Although this force involves several allies, it appears as though China, as the Chinese Communist …

Dead Sea Scrolls

In 2017, Israel launched an intensive hunt for antiquities. Items found included a 10,500 year old basket, a 6,000 year old skeleton of a 12 year old boy and a few coins dating to a Jewish rebellion in AD 132. On March 17th, according to CBS News, Israeli archaeologists announced the discovery of dozens of new Dead Sea Scroll fragments (click to read article). They were found in a desert cave and likely stashed away during a Jewish revolt against Rome nearly 1,900 years ago. Among the recovered texts, which are all in Greek, is Nahum 1:5-6, which says, “The mountains quake because …

In the Hands of God

Sometimes it’s hard to accept reality. We often want circumstances to work out the way we see fit. The issue with that is we still have a fallen nature that can be selfish, and our understanding of reality is finite, whereas God’s is infinite. As Isaiah 57:1 says, “The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart; the devout are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil.” Our minds would never want to accept ill-fated circumstances that we would feel are cutting someone’s life short, but the truth is, …
