Paul wrote, “because for the work of Christ he came close to death…” (Philippians 2:30). The day before Christmas was not a quiet one for Pow Moi; a 16 year old tribal orphan boy from Olai-Lai. This is the site of a recent revival. This location is a far northern Church/Home in the FCOP system; up in the very peak of the country where Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia are joined. Pow Moi was clearing brush the day before (getting ready for a big Christmas celebration) when the machine he was using kicked back and cut through the tibia, tendon, and artery (almost completely severing the foot). It happened in the late afternoon so a tourniquet was applied and church leaders had to arrange for a special ferry to cross the river to get him to a Ratanakiri hospital where doctors stopped the bleeding, and stabilized the foot which was almost detached. The next morning they sent him on a 19 hour trek to the only hospital in Cambodia (in Phnom Penh) where they could begin the first of three surgeries needed for restoration. This will not be cheap for us but we are believing for 100% recovery. He is pictured with his pastor Khem Note who is postponing the Christmas celebration for a week.
