Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B is a big problem in Cambodia. Orphan children are often infected at birth and the symptoms are not obvious. About 3% of our kids are ‘Hep B’  positive, so we can’t give blanket vaccinations, they must be tested first as the vaccination of a ‘Hep B’ child can be fatal. So, each home requires several trips; one to test every child, then the return trips to treat the positive children. Tim and Dhana Wimberly have been working with Dr. Lina to see all of our kids tested. It is expensive, as the cost is about $30.00 per person for all the travel and testing and treatment is long term and costly. We need continued help with this.
