New wiring and plumbing was recently completed by our FCOP staff. Our Women’s Dormitory at the National Training Center continues to be an essential part of the FCOP ministry by opening opportunities to share Christ with people through providing safe, low income housing for factory workers (especially young women). The dorm also houses some FCOP staff members and their families. The building is getting a little ‘long in tooth’ after 15 years of hard use. It was not constructed with separate electric and water service for each of the 48 rooms. Even though fuel prices have declined in Cambodia, the cost of electricity continues to increase and water prices are rising due to the drought. Water is often rationed by periods of shutdown. Broken pipes and leaking faucets were not being reported, lights were being left on during the day, and it was obvious that each dorm room must have its own meters. Strange how individual responsibility for their own electricity and water bills increases the efficiency.
The sign at our Training Center was a gift from our builder, Yohan, just before he died about ten years ago. It was in great need of repair with missing letters and fading colors. FCOP staff took the initiative to make those repairs, and in addition, planted new flowers and installed lighting around the sign making it even more beautiful than the original.
