Keeping Kids Healthy

We believe that changing a nation starts with bringing people into relationship with Jesus Christ. With that comes the demonstration of His love. Jesus’ teaching in the “Sheep and Goats” in Matthew 25 makes it clear that: “As we did it to one of the least of these My Brethren, you did it to Me.” FCOP must be about raising healthy kids and fighting the devil’s diseases on every level. Our kids at the Ou Rang Oue Church Home in Tbong Khmum province received their first dose of the Hepatitis B vaccination. This was done as a preventative measure as this …

Container Unloaded

On December 8th and 31st, FCOP received a tremendous blessing in the form of two 40-foot shipping containers filled with Manna Pack Rice Nutrition Meals. These meals will be sent out to all of the provinces throughout the country. We are exceedingly grateful for our partners at Reach Now International, Feed My Starving Children and Children’s Hunger Fund for their continued support to help feed over 3,000 orphans and widows in FCOP’s care. Our food supply has basically been a bare cupboard that never seems to run out; kind of like the widow’s bin in 1 Kings 17:16.

Happy Thanksgiving!

“My dear friends, we always have good reason to thank God for you, because your faith in God and your love for each other keep growing all the time. This is why we brag about you to all of God’s churches. We tell them how patient you are and how you keep on having faith, even though you are going through a lot of trouble and suffering.” (2 Thessalonians 1:3-4 CEV)

Why Are We Confident?

After the locust attacks are announced in Joel 1:4, events looked pretty bleak for the kingdom of Judah until we see the promise of God in Joel 2:19, “Behold, I will send you grain and new wine and oil and you will be satisfied by them…” That is very relevant to FCOP. Earlier in November we were on a midnight Zoom call with one of our partners, Gleanings for the Hungry. They have supplied us with food products for nearly 20 years and I mentioned our need for cooking oil. They are working on obtaining two shipping containers for us, plus …

A Different Type of Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving things look a little different for our kids. We would usually have a Thanksgiving celebration complete with special food but this year our kids are learning an even greater lesson; the joy of doing ministry as a family and sharing what we have with others in need. In caring for over 3,500 orphans, widows, and staff, there is a constant need to send new supplies. The staff and kids at our Training Center in Phnom Penh have been hard at work putting together care packages that will be sent to refuge centers throughout the country. These care packages include clothing, …

How You Can Help!

FCOP Cambodia has welcomed teams from all over the world for over two decades. These teams have come to do service projects that speak volumes to the children about their intrinsic value in contrast with the Buddhist understanding of karma. When everything came to a halt and travel was no longer an option due to COVID-19, many people have asked when we will be able to allow teams to start up again. Although we don’t know when people will actually be able to “set foot” in Cambodia, we realized that the physical presence of the teams wasn’t the only benefit to …

Mark Your Calendars! December 1st- #GivingTuesday

On #GivingTuesday, December 1st, you can help provide healthy, nutritious meals for orphaned and abandoned children in Cambodia.  In the midst of a food deficit throughout Asia, FCOP’s partners at Gleanings for the Hungry, Reach Now International, and Butte County Rice Growers have offered donated goods but we need your help to bring it to Cambodia. By giving to help cover freight costs, FCOP will be able to provide thousands of meals from each container that makes it to Cambodia. Be sure to look for an email in the coming days with more details. This is also a great time …

Home Floods

This really has been a dry year except for the past month, yet we still had dozens of our church homes flooded. This year a lot of flooding was due to the fact that development projects of the past few dry seasons did not provide for adequate drainage and many water catchment areas were filled in. We have a lot of drainage work to do and this little hiccup of rain in October sure pointed that out. We have structural damage to repair and just as we are stretched in every direction, with funds virtually cut in half due to …

Virtual Teams

We have our first team since COVID-19 hit! Well, virtual team that is. Pastor Lisa Machen from Church of the Open Door in Iowa, a longtime partner of FCOP, contacted us with the idea from their team members that were missing Cambodia.  We immediately thought it was a great idea! We’re getting photos and videos of the construction needs for the team to see firsthand and start fundraising. The expense of airline tickets can be saved and rolled over into helping work on accomplishing the construction project. We will miss having the team members here in person to invest time …

Entropy?

Entropy (from high energy to low) happens in churches; maybe faster than we care to acknowledge? Paul established the church in Ephesus around year 53-54AD (Acts 18-19). While imprisoned in Rome (year 61AD), seven years after the tremendous revival of Acts 19, he wrote the church a letter of encouragement. Paul reminds them that they are saved through the blood of Christ, through faith in His sacrifice, and empowered by the Holy Spirit to destroy the devil’s works through fighting a spiritual war. How long this had effect is unknown but I believe in an early date for the writing …

Epidemic!

We have an epidemic of Cholera in one of our church/homes and the entire village is affected. Dr. Lina is en-route with additional antibiotics and IV’s. The village is Toule Sok Krum near the Vietnam border. The water is infected, evidently a pathogen got into the water supply possibly through animal manure or raw sewage. Every one of our kids are on IV’s and showing symptoms of dysentery, fever and all the rest. Fortunately, our Pastor, a widow, seems to be immune and has been nursing sick kids day and night. We pray that this disease dies in Jesus’s name, …

Saved!

I don’t believe we have ever been so glad to receive containers from the USA. We were down to just days of rice meals left for our church homes. Two containers of rice arrived from The Butte Country Rice Growers, milled by Far West Rice both from Butte County, California. Then a very much appreciated shipment of dehydrated nectarines and apples along with dehydrated soup mix arrived from Gleanings For The Hungry, Sultana, California. All three of these loads were secured through Lou Binninger of Church of Glad Tidings in Yuba City, California. A big thank you is very sincerely …
