Why FCOP International?

Ted and Sou Olbrich founded Foursquare Children of Promise, a Cambodian N.G.O. under a Cambodian Board of Directors in 1999. When asked why he picked this name. Ted says, “When we started to receive orphans we had only two donors; The Foursquare Church and Children of Promise. I reasoned, we might as well include both in our name.  As we grew, we now have more than a thousand, churches, organizations and individuals that support us, rather than single out two donors we simply turned the name into an acronym, FCOP.”   For 10 years FCOP directed funds to flow through one of …

Hep “B” Vaccinations

We also use every modern weapon against disease. Thanks to a grant form The Foursquare Foundation we are testing and treating hundreds of people for hepatitis “B.” Not only are people being healed through medicine, they are coming to Christ and being filled with the Spirit through this simple good deed.

True Goodness is Tangible

The concept of keying in on fruitfulness through anointing is more essential to me than drawing my next breath. So, I don’t compromise. We will continue to do this no matter how painful, expensive, or embarrassing until God pulls the pin! It is not just the force of human will, a neat idea, or even a well executed Biblical concept. It is a calling and anointing. So we “Mush on.” Orphan staff are now learning that true goodness is not religious activity, but something much more tangible (Is 1:17)

M.O.U… ???

Physically, emotionally, and financially we all often feel like giving up. The Government is pressing hard on renewals for the “Memorandum of Understanding,” which is the document that gives us authority to operate each home. This mandate is written by humanistic organizations, which “fund” the appropriate agencies to work their own purposes. Much of what they want is good but culturally inappropriate for Cambodia. One size fits all, designed in Europe for the entire world. The document for our homes totals 57,600 pages. (Yes, I typed that correctly!) And you thought only the US loved bureaucracy? These agencies simply want …

Team Partnership

Teams emanate partnership. Vision does unite people with a common call; but it can also divide people, and not render either party’s actions wrong. People can be in the will of God and be called to different areas, missions, or functions. In these cases they find the common ground and work together. We have had great assistance from a team made up from three churches in the US Napa Valley, led by Hope Chapel Santa Rosa, CA this past month.

Medical Team to the Rescue

We bring in so many containers, of everything from food to tractors, that the ‘Council of Development for Cambodia’ (CDC) suspected that we must be a scam business, which uses the N.G. O. (Non Government Organization) as a tax dodge. They decided to investigate. The officials told Naret, our Chief of Staff, that they would go through our list of 106 active church homes and randomly pick one to investigate. If the CDC found we were not doing as we claimed, they would shut us down. Only God could have pulled this off! They picked the Chamka Jake Church Home …

“Disneyland” in the Middle of Nowhere

People need to interact socially. We were not designed to be isolated. We love having fun in Cambodia, especially when it leads communities into holistic health through connecting to God. The good people at the Union Church in Hong Kong believe this, and have built a miniature Disneyland out in the middle of nowhere, Phadau Penn, Cambodia. The kids can’t get enough of it! Bob, Christal, Jenny, and a small army of our Cambodian kids slaved for three days to put it together, but it was worth the effort! “Thanks!”  to Union Church and the Nutland Family!
