God is Never Late

Once again, we’ve seen God’s miraculous provision to meet the urgent physical needs of orphans and widows. Because of a chronic food shortage throughout SE Asia, FCOP was greatly feeling the effects as we were down to using our emergency reserves of rice. Right on time, we received a shipping container from Feed My Starving Children filled with 20 tons of Manna Pack nutritious rice meals. One thing we have seen over and over again throughout our 22 years in Cambodia is that God never forgets the orphans and widows… His good gifts are never late. This rice will help …

Restoring Health

September and October were very hard months as many of our kids and staff were attacked with various illnesses. We’re thankful for the medical clinic at our FCOP Training Center that allows us to provide proper medical care through having our own pharmacy, doctor, and nurse. Over a span of six weeks, we treated multiple cases of Dengue Fever and other diseases. We even transported several kids from Kampong Thom province to the clinic so that we could care for them. At one point, we had 12 patients receiving around the clock care which kept Dr. Lina, Khemrin, and Shanon …

The Repairs Never End

With 106 church refuge centers throughout Cambodia, keeping up on building repairs is a constant task. FCOP’s Training Center in Phnom Penh houses two of the largest church refuge centers and both required some extra attention this month. FCOP staff worked hard to repave a driveway, remodel a bathroom, make some modifications to the windmill used to oxygenate the fish pond, and even constructed a building to protect our new generator from the damaging effects of acid rain. Due to increased rates of Dengue Fever, our staff took the opportunity to spray insecticide to kill any mosquitos that might be …

Good Fruit

In these pictures, former FCOP administrative worker, Chomrong, is helping meet the needs of some local children in the small rural village where he lives. Chomrong worked for FCOP’s administrative office for over 10 years, in which time he married, learned valuable trade skills and is now starting to plow a path of being his own business owner. This is one of thousands of examples of how FCOP’s work the last 21 years has always looked towards sustainability models and practices to be situated for the future, as best as possible. This is why, from almost day one, church services …

Roots

At least two serious attempts have been made to write a book about the FCOP Ministry in Cambodia. The first was in 2008 and for some reason stopped at about 120 pages. The author came to me one day and simply said, “You need to write this book”. Mary Ann Lind is her name and she did a good job of capturing the first three years. I’ve never shared any of this before, except for the end story, and edited it down to the bare essence of about two pages to answer a central question. “Why have you been so …

Current Challenges

Along with every nation in the world, Cambodia continues to battle against the effects of COVID-19; from shuttered businesses to nation wide lockdowns, mask mandates and no travel zones. During this difficult time, FCOP isn’t only meeting spiritual needs but also the physical by ensuring the health and safety of those in our care. As I write this, two of our refuge centers have been directly affected by COVID-19. Because of contact tracing results, both the Siem Reap and Tumnup refuge centers have been put under 14-day quarantine. We have found that the biggest enemy is and always has been …

Preserving Fish

As protein is an essential part of a balanced diet and survival, Cambodians have learned to find protein in everything available. There is one protein source that all Cambodians grow up eating and is served thousands of different ways…fish. As part of FCOP’s strategy to become self-sufficient, most of our church refuge centers have developed fish ponds that help to provide the necessary protein for the kids and staff. When it comes to preserving fish, it can be quite a challenge due to there being no refrigeration resulting from a lack of electricity in many areas of the country.  The …

You’ll Own Nothing and You’ll Be Happy

The slogan above is the theme of the UN embraced ‘2030 Plan’. Does it sound familiar? It should! It’s been posted publicly in front of their headquarters in New York. Does it sound reasonable? This is the type of question which caused Solomon to become what some would call cynical, or possibly wise, in his old age as he penned the words of Ecclesiastes; often ending a verse with, “This too is vanity.” In the USA, it’s Memorial Day weekend; a time to remember personnel who gave their lives while performing their duty serving in the US military. My war …

Manna Pack Miracle

During the entire month of May, Cambodia has been in lockdown due to COVID-19. Food markets were forced to close, people living in red zones were unable to leave their homes (even to purchase food), and travel between provinces was prohibited. This resulted in food scarcity throughout the country with farmers unable to come to the city to sell their goods, the cost of the limited food available increasing by 30-50%, and people being fearful not knowing where their next meal might come from. We were starting to receive phone calls from our pastors throughout the country letting us know …

Making a Difference!

FCOP is about infecting the world, not hiding from it. That’s why we send our kids to public school and encourage church members to run for office, serve in the police and military, and to be involved in their communities. FCOP is focused on the rise of the victorious church. God did not put us here to ‘occupy and hold’ but to ‘conquer’! After 22 years of this same policy, FCOP is poised for breakthrough, not defeat. FCOP does not believe we are entering the “End Times” but setting up for the greatest revival in history. Church, it’s time to “wake up” and …

FCOP, A Light in The Darkness!

Cambodia is enduring its first strict CV-19 lockdown. On April 15th, the capital city of Phnom Penh was put in lockdown which has been extended until May 5th. From February 2020 through February 2021, Cambodia had about 400 cases and zero deaths from CV-19. On February 20th of this year, the numbers started climbing; expecting to hit 13,000 cases, with deaths soon approaching 100. The Cambodian government is attempting to curb the outbreak with a fervor that has not previously been seen; dispatching the military to enforce the shutdown and requiring mandatory vaccinations. A zoning system has been instituted, with …

A Voice of Reason in a World Gone Crazy!

Worldwide, It’s hard to understand how these types of policies make sense? Clearly, it is fear driven, but not a rational fear, and can only be understood if it is pushed by forces behind the realm of the obvious. The science is not even logical. Why vaccinate people for a disease with a 99+% cure rate? Why ignore the hundreds of studies of cures like Regeneron, HCQ + Zinc and Ivermectin to promote questionable vaccines? At least the Chinese vaccine, which is used in Cambodia, is a true vaccine, developed from an attenuated or killed virus. An obvious question arises from that fact. How did China develop such a …
